Long, long ago, there existed a magnificent cat kingdom on the continent - the Empire of Duskfur. It was rich, powerful and grand in style. But eventually, like a cat that was too greedy, it fell into its own desires and chaos and split into three separated kingdoms, they were the Clawmark, the Whiskerhold and the Catnipia.
Count Felix, one of the last nobles of the empire, witnessed his homeland collapse in an instant. He could have chosen to curl up in a corner and lick his paws, or find a pond to fish peacefully, but instead he did something else:
He set out on a journey, wandering the world, in search of the answers to the future of the feline race.
In a desolate temple buried under sand, Felix claimed to have heard the whispers of the ancestors of the cat race (though it sounded more like a long "meow~"). There, he obtained the legendary nine-lives amulet. According to the legend, the cat wearing it would gain nine lives, along with unparalleled patience - enough to survive countless rounds.
With the amulet and the new mission in hand, Felix built the now-famous arena. His idea was simple: Since the cat race always involves fighting, why not have a fight here? At the same time, please entertain the audience, make the treasure chest shine, and add a moving fire ring. Who could refuse?
So, the cats from the three kingdoms all sent out their heroes to compete in this arena. Their goals were all different: wealth, glory, legends... or simply because "there are free fish jerky over there". And this is how “Claws & Brawls” came into being.
While Felix was sitting high up on the judges' bench, gently stroking the nine-lives amulet in his paw, he used his sharp and calm eyes to observe every battle. He called this competition "the verdict of fate".
However, there were rumours that what he actually liked most was the deafening meows of the audience.
Rules:
Set up:
Loot Cards and Fire Ring Cards at a side of the board.
Each player controls three heroes (in 1 vs 1 mode), and each hero has 3 action points. Players take turns controlling one of their heroes to carry out actions. The basic action points consumed for movement and attack are 1 point, while climbing high ground and using character abilities consume 2 points.
Attack:
The goal of the game is to defeat your opponent. To attack your opponent, you need to roll the dice. The basic attack determination is as follows:
If the point is ≥ 13, then the action is a success. If <13, then no action can occur; Furthermore, if the roll is ≥ 23, a critical hit will be triggered, +1 DMG.
Different heroes have their own attributes like their levels of HP and ATK.
Looting :
Although the basic attack probability is basically 50-50, the Looting System (symbols on the map) enables you to obtain powerful equipment and loot. On the map, there will be three types of treasure chests: rare, golden, and mythic. The chest will contain all kinds of loot, such as potions and equipment. The higher the level, the greater the advantage the treasure brings to you. Here’s the distribution of the treasures contained in each type of treasure chest:
Rare: Draw 3 cards in the Rare Loot Cards
Golden: Draw 3 cards in the Golden Loot Cards
Mythic: Draw 3 cards in the Golden Loot Cards and 2 cards in the Mythic . Loot Cards
High grounds & Barriers:
Apart from the abundant loot, the proper utilization of the game terrain is also of great significance. This might even change the tides of the battle.
A “High ground” is a terrain that can be climbed. Climbing a high ground will consume 2 action points. The heroes standing on the high ground will gain a wider field of vision (items and abilities' range +1) and a higher . accuracy rate for range attacks (+2 on the point you rolled)
A “Barrier” is an obstruction. You cannot pass through it or attack your opponent from the other side. But you can still use throwing items.
The Fire Ring:
In the arena, the strategy of hunkering down is not what the audiences want to see. That's why we have the Fire Ring.
After the 1st round is over, the players will draw cards to determine the movement of the fire ring. At the end of the 2nd round, the Fire Ring will move and cover some areas of the arena. At that time, the heroes still remaining in the Fire Ring area will take some damages.
To determine the movement of the Fire Ring, the players will draw 1 Fire Ring Card at the end of the current round. The Fire Ring will move at the end of the next round.
In the first round when the Fire Ring appears, it will cause 2 DMG. In each subsequent round, the damage will +1
